Tooth Coloured Fillings (Composite Fillings)

We offer tooth coloured fillings here at the Colchester Dental Surgery.  Tooth coloured, or ‘white’ fillings are made from a composite resin, and bond directly to the tooth structure.

Composite fillings can be used to repair holes in teeth as a result of dental decay, but can also be used to cosmetically reshape teeth, or build up worn teeth.

Composite fillings can be matched to your existing tooth colour, making them essentially invisible in your mouth!  In being able to bond directly to the teeth, only the decayed part of the tooth is removed, so composite fillings are more conservative than traditional amalgam (‘silver’) fillings.  The fillings are ‘set’ or ‘cured’ immediately, so you can eat and drink straight away.  Modern composite materials are also durable, and have similar lifespans to traditional amalgam fillings.
