Dermal Fillers

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable substances that fill lines, wrinkles, and add volume to areas such as your lips or cheeks. They are not permanent and typically last between 6 and 9 months. Most dermal fillers in the UK contain a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. It’s important to note that while fillers enhance specific features, the rest of your face will continue to age naturally.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers work by adding volume and plumping up areas of the face. They provide temporary results, enhancing features like lips, cheeks, and smile lines. Hyaluronic acid fillers attract water, hydrating the skin and restoring youthful contours.

Treatment Areas

Dermal fillers are commonly used in the following areas:

  • Lips (for volume and definition)

  • Cheeks (to restore fullness)

Duration and Results

Dermal fillers give a more relaxed and smoother appearance. Depending on the type of filler, effects typically last 6 to 9 months.

Procedure

Anaesthetic cream may be used to numb the skin. Fillers are injected into the targeted areas using a small needle. While it might feel uncomfortable, it should not be painful. The treatment usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.
